North Korea has launched it’s new ‘Tactical Nuclear Attack Submarine’

Key Points on the tactical nuclear attack submarine:

  • Recently, the North Korea has launched it’s first-ever “Tactical Nuclear Attack Submarine“.
  • The Submarine No. 841 is named as ‘Hero Kim Kun Ok’.
  • This submarine is capable of launching nuclear weapons from underwater.
  • The Submarine has assigned the task of patrolling the Korean Peninsula and Japan.
  • What are Tactical Nuclear Attack Submarines- A Tactical Nuclear Attack Submarine is a type of submarine which is specifically designed to carry and launch the nuclear weapons from underwater.
  • Note: The official name of North Korea is the “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea” (DPRK). The Supreme Leader of North Korea is Kim Jong Un. The capital of North Korea is Pyongyang. The currency of North Korea is North Korean Won.

IIT Delhi Researchers conduct first-Ever National-Scale Soil Erodibility Mapping in India

Key Points on the mapping:

  • The Researchers of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, have conducted India’s first national-scale mapping of soil erodibility.
  • Before this only a particular region were assessed for soil erosion, but this time researchers have claimed to perform soil erosion mapping for the entire India.
  • Soil Erosion is the process where the top layer soil of the Earth’s surface is removed or carried away by the natural forces like wind, rainwater and rivers.
  • Soil Erodibility is the measure of how easily a type of soil is eroded or carried away by wind, water and other natural forces.
  • The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT, Delhi) was established in 1961.

President virtually launches Ayushman Bhav campaign and Ayushman Bhava Portal

Key Points of the campaign :

  • The President of India Droupadi Murmu virtually launched the Ayushman Bhav Campaign and the Ayushman Bhava Portal on September 13, 2023.
  • The launch event took place at the Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
  • The Ayushman Bhav Campaign aims to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and improve the healthcare, and it’s accessibility to the whole nation.
  • The Health Minister of India Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendrabhai Patel were also present at the launch event.
  • Ayushman Bhav Campaign aims to make it easier for people to get Ayushman cards, creating ABHA ID cards and spreading the awareness about the health programs and different diseases.
  • The Campaign has three parts- Ayushman – Apke Dwar 3.0, Ayushman Melas at Health and Wellness Centres (HWC) and Community Health Clinics (CHC) and Ayushman Sabhas in every village and panchayat.
  •  Note – The capital of Gujarat is Gandhinagar.

Russia hosts 8th Eastern Economic Forum

Key Points on the Eastern Economic Forum:

  • The 8th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) took place in Vladivostok, Russia, from September 10 to September 13, 2023.
  • The Theme for the EEF 2023 was “On the Way to Cooperation, Peace and Prosperity“.
  • The Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) is a global platform for investment that connects the peoples and organisations interested in investing money in Russia’s economic growth and development.
  • The President of Russia Vladimir Putin initiated the EEF in 2015 to support the growth of Russia’s Far East with collaborations with countries in Asia and the Pacific region.
  • Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal represented India at the 8th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
  • Note: The capital of Russia is Moscow, and the currency of Russia is the Russian Ruble.

Delhi’s First Park for the Differently Abled Persons

Key Points on the Park:

  • Delhi’s first park dedicated to differently-abled person soon to begin construction.
  • The park is being constructed in east Delhi’s Loni area under the Central AMRUT Scheme.
  • The park is expected to be ready in January 2024.

Jamia university Vice Chancellor Najma Akhtar honored with lifetime achievement award in academia

Key Points of the award :

  • Jamia Millia Islamia  (JMI) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Najma Akhtar, has been honored with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award-Academia.
  • The award was presented during the “Making India Employable” conference.

Dennis Austin, Co-Creator of PowerPoint, Passes Away at 76

  • Dennis Austin was the co-creator of PowerPoint, a widely used presentation software.
  • Microsoft acquired the company and integrated PowerPoint into the Office suite of programs.

Indore ranked first in Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan 2023

Key Points:

  • Indore has secured the first position in the Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan 2023 (Clean Air Survey 2023) conducted by the Central Pollution Control Board.
  • The government initiated the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) to improve air quality in over 100 cities across India.
  • The NCAP was launched in January 2019.
  • A portal called “Prana” (Portal for Regulation of Air Pollution in Non-Attainment Cities) has been launched to monitor the implementation of NCAP.

Germany wins FIBA World Cup 2023

  • Germany has won it’s first  FIBA World Cup 2023 in basketball by defeating Serbia with the score of 83-77.
