BRO to construct world’s highest fighter airfield in Ladakh’s Nyoma.

Key Points on Nyoma Airfield:

  • The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is going to construct the World’s highest fighter airfield in Nyoma village in Ladakh.
  • Nyoma is situated 13,000 feet above the sea level.
  • The cost of the construction of this airfield has an estimated budget of Rs. 218 Crores.
  • The Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh, laid the foundation of the airfield.
  • The Nyoma’s current runway is an Advanced Landing Ground (ALG) with a mud-based runway, which makes it suitable for helicopter and cargo ships. The new runway will be capable of handling bigger planes and fighter jets.

CSIR announces Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prizes for 2022

Key Points on SSB Prize:

  • The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has announced the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awards for 2022 to be awarded to 12 Scientists of India.
  • The Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prizes are awarded to honor and recognize the contributions of scientists in the field of science and technology in India.
  • The Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prizes are named after Dr. Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar, the first Director of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Dr. Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar is known as the “Father of Indian Research Laboratories” in India.
  • The Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar awards are announced on September 26 each year, on the foundation day of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). But, in the Last year, 2022 they were not announced without any notification.
  • Each recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award will receive a cash prize of Rs. 5 Lakh with a citation as recognition for their work in the field of science.
  • The names of the winner of Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prizes for 2022 are – Akkattu Biju, Dipti Ranjan Sahoo, Anindya Das, Debabrata Maiti, Dipyaman Ganguly, Basudeb Dasgupta, Vimal Mishra, Rajnish Kumar, Maddika Subba Reddy, Neeraj Kayal, Ashwani Kumar, Apoorva Khare.

India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor announced at G20

Key Points on India Middle East Europe Economic Corridor:

  • The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) was recently announced at G20 Summit in New Delhi, India.
  • This Economic corridor includes shipping and railway liking that will connect the Asia with West Asian part, the Middle East and Europe.
  • During the G20 Summit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor was signed off by India, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, United States of America, European Union, France, Germany and Italy.
  • The Group of Twenty (G20) is an international forum for discussing and coordinating on global economic issues.
  • The G-20 Summit was held in New Delhi, India from 9 September to 10 September.

India Won the final of SAFF U-16 Championship

Key Points on SAFF U-16 Championship:

  • The India U-16 football team won the final match of SAFF championship by defeating Bangladesh with a score of 2-0.
  • The SAFF U-16 is an annual International Football Championship organized by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF).
  • The SAFF U-16 for 2023 was scheduled to take place from September 1 to September 10 at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimpu, Bhutan.

President Draupadi Murmu Inaugurates India’s First “Global Symposium On Farmers Rights”

  • President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated India’s First Global Symposium on Farmers’ Rights (GSFR) at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Convention Centre in New Delhi on September 12.
  • The Global Symposium on Farmers’ Rights (GSFR) will be organized from September 12 to 15 September 2023.

Kiran George wins the Men’s Singles title at Indonesian Masters 2023

Key Points of the Championship:

  • Indian Badminton Player, Kiran George, has won the men’s singles championship at Indonesia Masters 2023 in Medan, North Sumatra.
  • Kiran defeated Japanese player Koo Takahashi in a 56 minutes long match.

Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Approves Compensation Scheme for Mob Lynching Victims

Key Points of the Scheme:

  • The Madhya Pradesh Government has approved the Madhya Pradesh Mob Lynching Victim Compensation Scheme, 2023.
  • The scheme provides up to Rs 10 Lakh as compensation to the families in case of death. And the injured victims will be compensated in the range of 4 to 6 Lakh.
  • On July 17, 2018 the Supreme Court of India directed the States to prepare a compensation schema for victims of lynching and mob violence.
