Hitachi Payment Services launched India’s first UPI-ATM

  • The UPI-ATM was launched by Hitachi Payment Services in collaboration with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) at the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai.

  • The GI authority has officially advertised it, pending objections, for three months.

Koraput Kalajeera Rice:

  • Koraput’s Kalajeera Rice, now, holds a GI tag.
  • It is popular for its unique traits, including its black color, aroma, taste, and health benefits.
  • The Odisha government supported its GI tag application, and it was officially granted on August 31, 2023.

What is GI Tag?

  • GI stands for Geographical Indication Certification.
  • It’s given to products that come from a specific place and have special qualities tied to that area.
  • To get a GI tag, the product must clearly represent its geographic origin.
  • GI tags cover various kinds of products like food, agricultural items, crafts, and more.
