Candidates will be expected to transcribe a spoken Hindi passage on a computer at the specified speed within 5 minutes, for which they will be given 35 minutes. The passage will be selected to test not only the speed of shorthand but also the knowledge of idiomatic language. If a candidate makes more than 5% errors, they will be deemed ineligible for employment.

5.     English Shorthand

For the post of Upper Personal Secretary in English shorthand, a speed of 100 words per minute is required. The selection process for the Indian Coast Guard recruitment consists of several stages:

1. Online Application: Candidates must apply online by the specified deadline.
